Hyderabad: SCR General Manager Arun Kumar Jain advised officials to intensify the track patrolling with the help the RPF and GRP teams and vigilant approach towards ensuring safety needs to be followed in view of the recent untoward incidents all over the Railways.

A review meeting was held to discuss on the safety of train operations across the zone on Monday at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. Neeraj Agrawal, Additional General Manager, SCR participated in the meeting along with all the Principal Heads of Departments. Divisional Railway Manager’s (DRMs) of all six Divisions i.e. Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur and Nanded joined the review meeting through video conference.

The General Manager instructed the officials to conduct Safety drives and frequent field inspections and counsel the safety related staff including the loco pilots, assistant loco pilots, guards and especially trackmen to be vigilant while patrolling along the tracks, strictly adhere to safety procedures to ensure the safe running of the trains. He reviewed the availability of fire prevention safety items like smoke detecting devices, Fire extinguishers etc., over the zone. He advised officials to strictly ensure adequate stocks to meet any exigency.

He also reviewed the Passenger Complaint redressal system “Rail Madad” and advised the officials to attend the passengers’ complaints as early as possible. He reviewed the working hours of the running staff and instructed to make advance planning on working hours to handle the staff smoothly and ensure safe working conditions. He also instructed the officials to take up awareness programs at Level Crossing Gates sensitizing the people to avoid trespassing LC gates during closed conditions. The General Manger also reviewed on the status on Elimination of Level Crossing Gates over the zone and instructed the respective Divisional Railway Managers to take necessary steps.

Arun Kumar Jain also stressed on the various Safety procedures to be followed by all the Divisions and Departments at Worksites. He advised regular counselling to be given to employees and Agency workers regarding personal safety while working at various worksites. Various Safety equipments and gears like gloves, helmets, belts etc., should be worn by employees / agency workers while carrying out the works.
